Biography
Iris B. Chocolate is a visual artist who lives and works in Vienna, Austria and Luanda, Angola.
Much of her work dissects and brings into question, notions of perception and memo-
ry, somewhere between the canon of history – with its linear narratives – and the collec-
tive memory archive. Bodies carry past experiences and reflect on appropriation and cultural reproduction. At the same time there is a clear reference to local culture as the substratum of this questioning. Using different medias and working closely with local artisans, she develops a poetic narra-
tive that encompasses different time frames and questions their consequences in memory.
